Borussia Dortmund is continuously keeping a close eye on the development of former grassroots talent Paris Brunner.
"Of course we're following the progress; he comes from our youth academy," sporting director Lars Ricken told Sport1.
“Ultimately, he's a former Dortmund player. He's doing very well in Monaco right now especially when he focuses on his qualities," he added.
Brunner made his breakthrough at AS Monaco this season, scoring six goals in seven games as the newly capped German U21 international.
Rumors of a possible return to BVB have also surfaced, however, sporting director Ricken as tempered any expectations:
“His short-term future is also clear: he has a long-term contract in Monaco. We should stick to the facts and not indulge in rumors.”
Incidentally, according to FussballTransfers' information, Dortmund does not have a buy-back clause, but rather a matching right.
This means that Dortmund will be informed of any offers from other clubs and could theoretically match any bid made.
