Dortmund chief confirms Kovac is close to contract extension
"It’s only a matter of time" before Niko Kovac extends his contract as Borussia Dortmund coach, says CEO Carsten Cramer.

Borussia Dortmund chairman Carsten Cramer has confirmed that Niko Kovac is on the verge of extending his contract as head coach.
“The appreciation for Niko Kovac is incredibly high. It’s only a matter of time, that much is clear,” Cramer told SID.
“Since we weren’t all continuously at the club during the international break, there are still a few discussions to be held. That’s why the situation remains technically open for now,” he added.
Kovac, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, is expected to sign an extension that would keep him at Dortmund until 2029.
The Croatian coach took over the job in February 2025.
