Karim Coulibaly has been linked with a host of top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Real Madrid, after breaking into Werder Bremen’s starting lineup this season.

According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund have now joined the long list of suitors, with new sporting director Ole Book having identified the 18-year-old centre-back as a target to strengthen the defence.

However, the German tabloid questions whether the Black and Yellows would be able to match the reported €40 million price tag for the defender.

Borussia Dortmund recently tied key centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck down to a long-term contract until 2031. However, the deal is understood to include a €50–60 million release clause applicable to a select group of clubs this summer, meaning the German international could still leave.

Should that happen, Dortmund’s chances of making a move for Coulibaly could increase significantly.
