Report: Dortmund’s resolve set to be tested by lucrative Nmecha offer

According to Sky Germany, Newcastle United are preparing a move for Felix Nmecha, with the Premier League club willing to meet Borussia Dortmund’s reported asking price of around €120 million.
The Magpies have generated significant funds through player sales this summer. They received €108 million from Tottenham Hotspur for Sandro Tonali, while Anthony Gordon completed an €80 million switch to FC Barcelona. In addition, Bruno Guimarães is expected to join Arsenal in a deal worth a further €87 million.
With Guimarães seemingly on his way out, Newcastle have identified Nmecha as the ideal replacement and now appear ready to test Dortmund’s resolve with a substantial offer.
Earlier this summer, Dortmund sporting director Nils Ole Book played down the prospect of the midfielder leaving the club.
“I would consider a transfer extremely unlikely,” local news outlet Ruhr Nachrichten quoted Dortmund chief Book as saying.
“Of course, astronomical sums can theoretically always be involved, but I can pretty much rule that out for Felix Nmecha this summer,” he said.
However, should Newcastle match Dortmund’s reported valuation, the Bundesliga club may be forced into a difficult decision. They can either cash in on one of their most important players for a nine-figure fee or keep hold of the Germany international, knowing he has a contractually agreed €80 million release clause that could become active next summer.
