Eintracht Frankfurt are close to appointing a replacement for Dino Toppmöller, who was sacked as head coach earlier this month.

“We will present the new coach in the near future. We’re on the home stretch,” board member Axel Hellmann said during a members’ meeting on Monday evening, according to Sky.

However, it remains unclear who will take over the position.

According to reports, the candidates in the running are Alexander Blessin (FC St. Pauli), Kjetil Knutsen (Bodo/Glimt), Marco Rose (currently unattached) and Jacob Neestrup (FC Copenhagen).

Interim duo Dennis Schmitt and Alex Meier will be in the dugout once again for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Tottenham, with the new coach expected to take charge for Saturday’s Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen.
