Frankfurt extend with and loan out Baum

Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed a contract extension and loan-out for fullback Elias Baum early Thursday evening. 

After featuring in trainer Dino Toppmöller's match-day squad five times this season, making four league relief appearances, and going the full 90 minutes in one of Eintracht Frankfurt's 2023/24 UEFA Europa Conference League fixtures, 18-year-old fullback Elias Baum will get an opportunity to further hone his skills in the German second division next season. 

The SGE confirmed a new deal with for their academy man on Thursday evening. The Frankfurt native's new contract keeps him with his hometown club through 2028. Baum will spend next season playing for 2. Bundesliga side SV Elversberg in neighboring Saarland next year. He was a regular starter with the Eintracht reserves last year. SGE sporting director Timmo Hardung emphasized Baum's quality in a club statement. 

"We are proud of how Elias has developed with us in recent years," Hardung noted his statement, "As a nominal U-19 player, he was already a regular in our U-21 squad. His debut in the professional team and in Germany's U-19 selection are the result of his ambition, his professional attitude and, last but not least, his footballing quality."

"I'm delighted to have extended my contract with the club close to my heart, where I feel a lot of trust from those in charge," the player himself added, "Playing with the eagle on my chest means a lot to me. The fact that I made six appearances for the professional team last season was a valuable experience. Now I want to gain as much match practice as possible at Elversberg."
