Niclas Füllkrug scored for the seventh Bundesliga game in a row on Saturday as he helped Werder Bremen to a 2-0 win over TSG Hoffenheim.

In doing so, the 33-year-old West Ham loanee equalled a club record set by Rudi Völler, who did the same in the 1982/83 season.

Speaking after the match, Füllkrug stressed that the team’s success remains his top priority.

“We keep bringing the intensity, and it’s incredibly enjoyable to play with this team,” he told reporters after the game.

“I’m happy about the record, but the team and a fantastic collective performance remain the main focus.”

Werder Bremen coach Daniel Thioune praised Füllkrug, who leads the Bundesliga's scoring charts with nine goals.

“He powered his way through with an impressive, energetic performance, and that gave us another spark,” Thioune said.
