Hannover 96 has terminated the loan of goalkeeper Leon-Oumar Wechsel to Polish club GKS Tychy as confirmed on a club statement.

Instead, the 20-year-old talent will be swiftly sent back out on loan to German third division club Jahn Regensburg.

“Leon Wechsel’s loan to Poland hasn’t worked out as planned," read the statement from new 96 managing director Jörg Schmadtke.

“Against this backdrop, it makes sense to make a clean break now and implement a change at the start of pre-season training for the second half of the season,” he added.

Wechsel was already part of the German U-21 national team squad and is highly rated by the Lower-Saxony club.

Meanwhile, Hannover is loaning out another player: Forward Jannik Rochelt is joining fellow Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld.

The 27-year-old as been with Hannover since the 2024-25 campaign and has made 13 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga this season.

"Jannik is a versatile attacking player who will strengthen us both on the wings and in central midfield with his qualities.

"His game intelligence and creativity are abilities that will make our attacking play more varied.

"His time at Hannover and Elversberg, gives him plenty of experience in the 2. Bundesliga. We are very pleased that he has chosen to join us," said DSC sporting director Michael Mutzel.
