Nadiem Amiri missed Mainz’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend due to a heel injury that, according to Bild, could keep the 29-year-old out until the beginning of April.
The timing could prove critical and puts his chances of making Germany’s World Cup squad in doubt.
Amiri was a regular part of Julian Nagelsmann’s squad through 2025, but missed the November internationals due to adductor pain.
The ex-Bayer Leverkusen midfielder will now also be absent for Germany’s friendlies against Switzerland and Ghana this month, casting uncertainty over his World Cup selection.
In total, Amiri has represented Germany’s senior national team nine times, scoring once.
