Jürgen Klopp's plans for Germany duo Wirtz and Musiala

Klopp could theoretically deploy both attacking midfielders in a double pivot as part of his 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 system.

Two years ago, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz terrorized opposing defenses at the European Championships in Germany in 2024.

Dubbed “Wusiala” at the time, both players' level for Germany has somewhat suffered since through a mix of injuries and poor club form.

Although new national coach Jürgen Klopp had nominated the duo for different squads, the 59-year-old is planning how to use them together.

According to a report in BILD, the national coach can very well imagine a system with both in the starting eleven in the future.

One idea, at least, is to deploy both Wirtz and Musiala as a "double pivot" in attack in Klopp's hybrid 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 formation.

However, it's more likely that, as in the past, one of the two will have to move out to the wing. At the 2026 World Cup, Wirtz made that sacrifice.

Klopp is, of course, free to develop a system in which Wirtz or Musiala are also placed in on the wing and can better utilize their strengths.

Ultimately, the earliest Wirtz and Musiala can be back on the pitch together is during the international break in November.
