Juventus have stepped up their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen prospect Karim Alajbegović after improving their offer for the teenager, according to BILD.

The Serie A giants had previously been unwilling to exceed a package worth €30 million plus bonuses. However, that stance has reportedly changed over the weekend, with Juventus now firmly back in the race for the highly rated youngster.

A key factor working in Juventus’ favour is the sporting project they have presented to Alajbegović. The Italian club has reportedly informed the former RB Salzburg academy player that he would be integrated into the first-team squad for the upcoming season, a plan that was communicated directly to the player during personal talks.

Juventus are not alone in their pursuit, however. Reports from Italy suggest that Napoli are also preparing an improved offer in an attempt to enter the race.

Despite the renewed interest from the Serie A clubs, Chelsea are still considered the favourites to secure Alajbegović’s signature, with Juventus currently viewed as the Blues’ closest challengers.

It is understood that Alajbegović is eager to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer and is now waiting to see which interested club can reach an agreement with the Bundesliga side. Once that happens, he is expected to hold final discussions before making his decision.

A resolution to the transfer saga is expected in the coming days.
