Germany coach Jürgen Klopp has backed Karim Adeyemi after the Barcelona star’s horror miss in Thursday’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands, saying he likes the “whole package” the winger offers.
Adeyemi squandered a big opportunity to double Germany’s first-half lead in Amsterdam, but Klopp insists that moments like that are part of football.
“What missed chance?” Klopp said with a laugh at a press conference on Saturday.
"The Karim I've gotten to know here is a wonderful, very pleasant guy. He has made a superb impression in Barcelona so far. It means a lot to him to be here. Then you miss that chance, which he normally puts away. Dealing with that – that's the big challenge in a footballer's life.
“We're working on making sure he stays in the game even after something like that. He's still a young guy – and we're working on it. I like the whole package he offers.”
Adeyemi could get another run in the starting XI when Germany face Greece on Sunday.
