After two games without a win, RB Leipzig got back on track with a 2-1 victory away to 1. FC Köln at the RheinEnergieStadion on Sunday.

Back from suspension, Christoph Baumgartner opened the scoring in an entertaining first half, flicking a header past Marvin Schwäbe around the half-hour mark after a pinpoint cross from David Raum.

Köln levelled early in the second half, as Jan Thielmann picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area and thundered an unstoppable strike into the top corner.

But Leipzig responded swiftly, and once again it was Baumgartner who delivered. A clever through ball from Xaver Schlager sent the Austrian international clear, and he made no mistake, firing past Schwäbe to put Leipzig back in the lead with 56 minutes played.

Baumgartner’s second goal settled the contest, sending Leipzig up to fourth in the Bundesliga table, while Köln are 10th.
