Lacroix confirms interest in joining Glasner at Palace

Speaking to the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, VfL Wolfsburg center back Maxence Lacroix has confirmed contract with Crystal Palace head-coach Oliver Glasner.

The 24-year-old may be preparing to join his former Wolfsburg trainer on the Isle this summer.

French central defender Maxence Lacroix - often linked with a move away from the Bundesliga - may be preparing to rejoin the VfL Wolfsburg head-coach under whom he enjoyed his greatest professional success. Working under current Crystal Palace trainer Oliver Glasner, Lacroix helped Wolfsburg qualify for the Champions' League during the 2020/21 season. Lacroix attained his peak market worth (€28 million) that spring.

Lacroix's contract with Germany's green company team runs only through the end of next season. Wolfsburg would certainly be willing to cash in on the 24-year-old, who maintains an estimated market worth of €20 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. Lacroix has netted four league goals in the current campaign, most recently lifting his relegation-threatened side to victory with an absolute screamer against Freiburg over the weekend.

Speaking to Germany's Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ), Lacroix confirmed that he had been in contract with Glasner over a possible move. The French youth international naturally wished to emphasize that helping his current club avoid relegation remained his first priority. The center back was nevertheless quite forthcoming about his talks with the coach that initially brought him to Germany.

"We spoke on the phone after the game between Liverpool FC and Crystal Palace about two weeks ago," Lacroix told the paper, "It's not the time to talk about my future. All that matters to me now is Wolfsburg. We have a mission, which is to stay in the league. And when this mission is accomplished, we can head on holiday with a smile. We can talk after the season."
