The winners of the DFB-Pokal in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, RB Leipzig will be determined to go all the way again this campaign, with Tuesday’s home game against 2. Bundesliga strugglers 1. FC Magdeburg representing the next step towards Berlin.

Die Roten Bullen remain second in the Bundesliga following a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday, leaving them eight points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.

They will be determined to return to winning ways against a Magdeburg side who are bottom of the 2. Bundesliga despite ending a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over 1. FC Nürnberg at the weekend.

This will be the first meeting between the two clubs since 2013, when RB Leipzig won 4-0 in the Regionalliga Nordost.

In terms of personnel, RB Leipzig have two new injury concerns: Ridle Baku, who injured his ankle against Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Timo Werner, sidelined with muscular problems.

Romulo, El Chidaille Bitshiabu, Viggo Gebel, Benjamin Henrichs and Assan Ouedraogo are also unavailable for the home side.

For the visitors, Alexander Ahl-Holmström, Daniel Heber, Jean Hugonet, Luka Hyryläine, and Samuel Loric are all sidelined.
