RB Leipzig are close to finalizing the appointment of Ole Werner as their new head coach.

According to Kicker, Werner is expected to be officially announced as Die Roten Bullen’s head coach later this week.

Werner was released by Werder Bremen a few weeks ago after declining to extend his contract, which still runs until 2026.

Since Werner has one year remaining on his contract with Werder, Leipzig will need to pay a transfer fee to the Green-Whites, reportedly in the region of €1-3 million, according to Kicker.

Leipzig dismissed Marco Rose in March and appointed Zsolt Löw as interim coach for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
