Bayer 04 Leverkusen will be without Ezequiel Fernández for several weeks.

Die Werkself announced on Monday that the Argentine midfielder sustained a knee ligament injury during Sunday’s 2-0 win over Freiburg.

As a result, the 23-year-old is expected to be sidelined for seven to eight weeks, the Bundesliga club confirmed.

Fernández has started the last five games for Bayer Leverkusen.

Kasper Hjulmand’s side will continue their 2025/26 campaign in the DFB-Pokal against Paderborn on Wednesday.
