RB Leipzig will have to do without Xaver Schlager for the time being, the Saxony-based club confirmed on Tuesday, 24 February.

The midfielder was substituted in Saturday's Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund due to muscular problems in his adductor area.

As a result, Leipzig expressed in a statement that they expect the Austrian international to be absent for at least a few weeks.

This prognosis was reached after Leipzig's team doctors conducted a thorough examination on Monday morning.

The 28-year-old will begin an individual rehabilitation program in order to get back to full fitness and return to Ole Werner's squad.

Overall, the news comes as a blow for the club who are already short on midfield personnel with Assan Ouédraogo also unavailable.
