Newcastle interested in signing FC Bayern midfielder

Newcastle United have added João Palhinha to their shortlist of potential replacements for Bruno Guimarães, according to ESPN Brasil's Bruno Andrade.
The Magpies are preparing for the expected departure of Guimarães, who is reportedly closing in on a move to Arsenal, and see Palhinha as one of the leading candidates to fill the void in midfield.
According to the report, Newcastle have drawn up a two-man shortlist, with the Bayern Munich midfielder among their preferred options.
Palhinha struggled for regular playing time at Bayern before his loan to Tottenham last season, leading to continued speculation over his future in Munich.
Should Newcastle step up their interest, the Portugal international could emerge as a serious target as the club looks to replace one of its most influential players ahead of the new season.
