Many clubs were after the signature of Christopher Nkunku this summer, but instead he has opted for a contract extension through 2026 to continue with Leipzig. In turn, Nkunku's wages have greatly increased, while he stays in Germany for at least another season with a release clause that now reaches €60 million.

Leipzig clearly do not wish to sell Josko Gvardiol this summer and according to Sport Bild, would like to do something similar. They have reportedly offered to increase Gvardiol's wages from €2 to €7 million per year, tying the Croatian to the club through 2027.

A greater release clause would be included, as the 20-year-old's current contract expires all the way in 2026.
