RB Leipzig aim to sign Austrian international Xaver Schlager from sister club Red Bull Salzburg this summer according to the Leipziger Volkszeitung.

Just this month, Amadou Haidara joined RB Leipzig from the Austrian champions, following in the footsteps of the likes of Naby Keita (now Liverpool), Peter Gulasci and Dayot Upamecano who have all made the move from Salzburg to Leipzig in the past.

After selling Haidara, Red Bull Salzburg don't want to let more important players go this month, and RB Leipzig sporting director and head coach Ralf Rangnick is thus planning to sign Schlager in the summer.

Schlager - a 21-year-old box-to-box midfielder who plays for the Austrian national team - has made 26 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg this season, scoring six goals and making three assists. His contract runs until 2021.
