Heidenheim confirm capture of another striker

Newly promoted Bundesliga side 1. FC Heidenheim unveiled striker Marvin Pieringer as their sixth summer signing on Monday afternoon.
Just a few days after procuring striker Eren Dinkci on loan from SV Werder Bremen, newly promoted Bundesligists 1. FC Heidenheim have earned more support in attack. FC Schalke 04 center-forward Marvin Pieringer has been purchased for a reported €1.8 million. Pieringer - purchased by Schalke from the Freiburg reserves last summer - had only just returned from a loan-stint with SC Paderborn 07.

The 23-year-old completed a prolific season whilst on loan at Paderborn, scoring ten goals and adding a a further eight assists. Over the course of the 2022/23 2. Bundesliga campaign, the former Reutlingen academy man quadrupled his estimated market worth from €500,000 to €2 million. His new contract with the BaWü border club runs through 2027.

"Marvin is a young striker who showed top performances in the 2nd Bundesliga last season and also hails from our wider region," FCH personnel boss Robert Strauß noted in a club statement, "When the opportunity arose for us to sign him on a permanent basis, we all quickly agreed to take the chance. We would like to thank FC Schalke 04 for the uncomplicated and cooperative partnership regarding this transfer and are pleased that Marvin will become part of our team."

"Of course, I have already been to the Voith Arena as an opposing player and know how unpleasant it is to play here," the player himself added, "That's why I'm even more excited to be able to wear the FCH jersey myself next season and make life as difficult as possible for other teams in the Bundesliga - both at home and away."
