Out-of-favour Augsburg centre-back linked with Frankfurt and Fulham

FC Augsburg defender Martin Hinteregger, who was recently suspended by the club, is being linked with Eintracht Frankfurt and Fulham.
Martin Hinteregger is set to leave FC Augsburg after he was handed a suspension by the club on Tuesday, Bild reports.

According to the German tabloid, a move to Eintracht Frankfurt is a possibility. At the Commerzbank-Arena, Hinteregger would reunite with his former coach Adi Hütter with whom he won the Austrian championship with Red Bull Salzburg in 2015.

Meanwhile, Fussball Transfers understands that Fulham are interested in the Austrian international.

Hinteregger was suspended by the club and handed a fine on Tuesday after he criticized Augsburg coach Manuel Baum in the wake of a 0-2 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend.

"I can't say anything positive about him, and I will not say anything negative," the centre-back told Bayerische Rundfunk.

According to Bild, Hinteregger held a meeting with Augsburg sporting director Stefan Reuter for more than three hours yesterday. They ultimately decided that the 26-year-old will leave the club.

Hinteregger joined Augsburg from Red Bull Salzburg in 2016.
