Ancelotti comments on officiating controversy: "Kimmich also dove."

Former FC Bayern München head-coach Carlo Ancelotti hit back at his former club's criticism of the officiating following last night's controversial Champions' League victory.

Following the controversial refereeing decisions in last night's Champions' League victory, Real Madrid trainer Carlo Ancelotti admitted that the late call that chalked off Bayern's late equalizer "may not have been offside". The 64-year-old Italian gaffer nevertheless did wish to note that Matthijs de Ligt's supposed 2-2 couldn't have legitimately counted as referee Szymon Marciniak had already blown the whistle.

"The ref whistled and we stopped playing," Ancelotti - as quoted by Germany's Kicker Magazine - noted in his post-match interview, "but maybe there was some poetic justice to it. Bayern are complaining about this goal that wasn't given and we're complaining about the other one that wasn't recognized. Kimmich also dove."

Ancelotti was referring to a scene in the 71st in which a goal from Nacho was disallowed when replays confirmed that the Real captain had hit Joshua Kimmich in the face. Few will have disagreed with the VAR intervention in this case. In any event, Ancelotti took the stance that his team should have been granted their own equalizer much earlier.
