'Der Blau' qualified for the round of 16 thanks to a dramatic penalty shootout win over Holstein Kiel in the last round.
Following a 5-0 win over FC Nürnberg, Düsseldorf have also won their last two games and are fourth in the 2. Bundesliga table.
Fortuna are in the last 16 of the Pokal after beating Unterhaching 6-3 in extra time in the round of 32.
Magdeburg have a long injury list, with Ceka, Dzogovic, El Hankouri, Hugonet, Pollersbeck and Schuler all missing.
The visitors will be without Hoffmann, Sobottka and Zimmermann.
