Angelo will thus be loaned out for the third time in less than two years. After a year spent playing at Hoffenheim and half-a-season in the Süper Lig, the Galician is now headed to the Serie A. AS Roma will take him on. Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that the Italians will pay a loan fee and also be bound by an obligatory purchase option; in this case a €5 million one should "I Giallorossi" qualify for the Champions' League.
Leipzig continue to try and recoup some of the €18 million they spent to purchase Angelino permanently from Manchester City in February of 2021. Though he did continue to register assists for Hoffenheim last season, a steady decline in his scoring numbers saw and persistent disciplinary issues saw Angelino's estimated market worth drop from a peak of €35 million in September 2021 to €5 million today.
