Beckenbauer questions Kovac

Bayern München coach Niko Kovac's qualities have been questioned by club legend Franz Beckenbauer.
Franz Beckenbauer says he isn't sure Niko Kovac has what it takes to be the coach of Bayern München.

The Bayern legend says that Kovac has had to adapt since he joined the Bavarians from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, and the 73-year-old still isn't sure the former Croatian international is the right man to take the club forward.

"There is a difference between being the coach of FC Bayern and another Bundesliga club. I don't know if he (Kovac) can pull it off. The next results will show if he can," Beckenbauer said in an interview with Sky and continued:

"When the season is over, you might go into the new season with other ideas or concepts. That definitely wouldn't hurt."

Bayern München are currently top of the Bundesliga thanks to a better goal difference than Borussia Dortmund.

The Bavarians were eliminated by Liverpool in the round of 16 of the Champions League, but are still in contention to win the DFB-Pokal and have been drawn up against Heidenheim at the quarter-finals.
