Van Dijk: Bayern are in contention to win the Champions League

Virgil van Dijk believes Bayern München are strong enough to win the Champions League this season.
Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk says he sees Bayern München as a contender to win the Champions League title this season.

Bayern only managed to reach the round of 16 last season when they were beaten by van Dijk and Liverpool, but the 28-year-old believes the Bavarians could potentially go all the way this time around.

"Bayern are a contender in the race for the Champions League," van Dijk said in an interview with Bild and added:

"They are a big club and have made some good signings. They could win the trophy."

Bayern will be up against Tottenham, Olympiacos and Crvena Zvezda at the group stage of this year's Champions League.
