Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: I learned a lot from Uli Hoeness

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reflected on his close partnership and friendship with Uli Hoeness who is set to officially step down as Bayern München president on Friday evening.
An era is coming to an end as Uli Hoeness steps down from his position as Bayern München president at tonight's annual general meeting after spending a total of 49 years at the club in various roles.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who has worked closely together with Hoeness for many decades, has reflected on the pair's strong partnership in an interview on the club's website.

"I learned a lot from him. Nobody at FC Bayern has known him for as long as I have – and I think I know him better than anyone. We were also driven somehow. He was an incredibly dashing, clever, intelligent person and he always had a huge network that he could draw on," Rummenigge said and added:

"He has lived this club like no one else – and presumably like no one ever will again.

"There'll never be a life without FC Bayern for him, and he's always welcome here. I wish my friend Uli all the best."

Hoeness will be succeeded by Herbert Hainer.
