Official: Werder captain Niklas Moisander signs new contract

Niklas Moisander has penned a contract extension with Werder Bremen.
Werder Bremen captain Niklas Moisander has put pen to paper on a new contract, the club have announced.

The 34-year-old's contract was due to run out at the end of the season, but he has now signed an extension. There's no official word on the length of the new deal.

"Niklas has had a very high reputation with us for years. With his experience and calm nature, he is the sort of consummate professional that we have unfortunately had to do without for the last few weeks, but now we believe that he will continue to be a very important piece of our squad for the future," said Werder sporting director Frank Baumann.

Moisander has played for Werder Bremen since 2016.
