BVB starlet Giovanni Reyna underlines intention to play for the United States

Giovanni Reyna wants to represent the United States at an international level and is hoping to make his senior international debut later this month.
Borussia Dortmund starlet Giovanni Reyna has made it clear that he wants to play for the United States.

The 17-year-old is eligible to play for England, Argentina and Portugal as well, but isn't interested in representing anyone else but the United States.

"I'm aware of the rumors, but it's quite clear for me. I only want to play for the United States. That's my home country," Reyna told Ruhr Nachrichten.

U.S. national team coach Gregg Berhalter recently announced that he wants to include Reyna in his squad for this month's friendlies against Wales and the Netherlands. And the midfielder feels ready to make his first senior international appearance.

"Maybe I can make my debut. I definitely feel ready," Reyna said.

Reyna isn't interested in representing the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics, though.

"I could lose my spot in the squad. I don't think that makes sense. I'm staying here. BVB have told me that they need me here," he said.
