Jerome Boateng to play for his future at Bayern

With Bayern München currently planning to offload Jerome Boateng ahead of the 2020/21 season, the 31-year-old will be playing for his future at the club when the Champions League returns.
Bayern München bosses want to sell Jerome Boateng if an offer comes in for him, according to Sport Bild.

But Bayern coach Hansi Flick sees things differently and still counts on the 31-year-old, who has featured regularly in central defence alongside David Alaba while Niklas Süle has recovered from a long-term injury.

Süle is back in full training, but still needs time to get back into top form, so Boateng is expected to keep his starting spot when Bayern take on Chelsea in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Saturday.

So far, Bayern have received no offers for Boateng, who is out of contract in 2021. The centre-back has previously stated that he could imagine fulfilling his contract or signing a contract extension.

It may very well be that his future depends on his performances in final stages of the Champions League in Lisbon, where he will get the chance to prove himself once more.
