Bayern coach Hansi Flick would like to bring in another winger

Bayern München coach Hansi Flick admits he would like to bring in another winger for the upcoming season.
Bayern München coach Hansi Flick says he would like to have another winger at his disposal for the 2020/21 season.

Bayern have already added to their options on the wing with the signing of Leroy Sané from Manchester City, but are widely expected to part company with a winger in Inter loanee Ivan Perisic.

Additionally, Philippe Coutinho, who is capable of playing on the wing as well, will be returning to his parent club FC Barcelona at the end of his loan spell.

This leaves Bayern with three natural wingers: Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman. Ideally, Flick would like to add a fourth one to his squad.

"We need options. Currently, we have a few players, who can play several positions. However, on the wings, you have players, who are challenged very intensively by making sprints and taking on opponents. That's where we need to have options to make changes, a wide range to choose from," Flick told Sport Bild and added:

"I think four [wingers] is optimal. Ideally, you should have two players for every position in the squad. I have huge confidence that [Bayern sporting director] Hasan Salihamidzic and his team will find the right solutions."
