RB Leipzig through to Champions League semi-finals after win over Atlético

RB Leipzig made history as they qualified for the semi-final stage of the Champions League for the first time with a 2-1 victory over Atlético Madrid.
RB Leipzig are through to the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in the club's history after taking a 2-1 win over Atlético Madrid on Thursday.

Dani Olmo deservedly sent 'Die Roten Bullen' ahead shortly after the break, nodding in a cross from Marcel Sabitzer in the 51th minute.

But Leipzig didn't manage to hold on to their lead and conceded an equaliser with 71 minutes on the clock, when second-half substitute Joao Felix scored from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Lukas Klostermann in the box.

RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann reacted by bringing on Tyler Adams, who grabbed the winner with a few minutes left to play as his shot from the edge of the box took a deflection and sailed past Atlético goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Leipzig's opponents in the last four will be Paris Saint-Germain, who beat Atalanta 2-1 yesterday, with the game set to take place on Tuesday 18 August.
