Giovanni Reyna wants to follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho at Dortmund

17-year-old Giovanni Reyna says Jadon Sancho's development at Borussia Dortmund is 'an incentive' for him.
Jadon Sancho is a great source of inspiration for Giovanni Reyna, who is keen to follow in the footsteps of the 20-year-old at Borussia Dortmund.

Reyna, 17, is happy to learn and take advice from Sancho, who has emerged as one of the Bundesliga's most prolific players since arriving at Dortmund as a teenager.

"When Jadon dribbles, his first steps are incredible. Wow! I try to learn from him in every training session, because his development here at BVB is an incentive for me," Reyna said in an interview with Sport Bild and added:

"Jadon also came to Dortmund as a teenager. He was 17, just like I am now. And he made his way from a talented youth player to one of the top stars of the Bundesliga. Jadon helps me a lot by giving me lots of tips.

"He tells me to be confident and trust in my strengths. He gives me courage when things don't go my way. He didn't doubt himself after making mistakes in the past, but just kept going. Jadon is this good for a reason."

Reyna made his breakthrough for Dortmund's senior side in the second half of last season, featuring 18 times with one goal and two assists to his name. Asked about his strengths, the midfielder responded:

"I think I'm quite good with the ball. I like to use my creativity in the centre, preferably at the number 10 position. I love getting the strikers into position, making assists and scoring goals myself. But I can also play on the wings."
