Official: Rashica to Leverkusen talks break down at last moment
Bremen and Milot Rashica will have to get accustomed to one another over the coming months after a last ditch acquisition effort by Germany's red company team collapsed.
German footballing magazine Kicker reports that a late bid on behalf of Leverkusen for Bremen's Milot Rashica was very real. Unfortunately, it all fell down at the last moment as the two clubs were unable to come to terms on a purchase option for the 24-year-old winger.
Speaking directly to the magazine, Leverkusen Sporting CEO Rudi Völler said, "There were difficulties about the purchase option. We and Bremen had different conceptualizations about this. In the end, we weren't able to come to an agreement in time."
By all accounts it appears that any attempt to move the attacker to another club before the January window are now over. One of the summer's most discussed storylines reaches its conclusion.
Rashica has not yet featured for the Hanseaten this season as he continues to struggle with knee problems. Instances in which he felt fit enough to start were deferred so that he could consider possible transfer offers.
