Mitchell Weiser after his move to Werder: 'Nobody else wanted me'

Mitchell Weiser has revealed that Werder Bremen were the only side, who wanted to sign him on deadline day.

Mitchell Weiser left Bayer Leverkusen for Werder Bremen on deadline day, signing a loan deal with the 2. Bundesliga outfit.

In an interview with Bild, the 27-year-old has revealed how the transfer came about.

"It was extremely hectic. At 1 p.m., I spoke with the coach and when with my wife and friends. Also, 'Leo' Bittencourt got in touch and said, 'Come on, bro!'

"Nobody else wanted me, there were no other offers. I had already ruled out a transfer, and Bremen then came out of nowhere.

"The 2. Bundesliga wasn't my goal, but Bremen are not a second division club for me."

The former Bayern München youth player still has two years left on his contract with Leverkusen.
