Official: Jürgen Klopp announced as Germany national team head coach

As officially announced by the German Football Association (DFB) this morning, Jürgen Klopp will be the new national team coach.
In doing so, Klopp has signed a contract until after the 2030 World Cup and thus leaves his role as Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer.
As compensation, the DFB will pay €1million to an RB foundation supporting medical spinal cord research dubbed “Wings for Life”.
Klopp's coaching staff will include Peter Krawietz, Pep Lijnders and Sven Bender – all four start their term on 15 August.
Meanwhile, Per Mertesacker will succeed Andreas Rettig as the DFB’s new Managing Director of Sport, starting on 1 January 2027.
In the third week of September, Klopp will nominate his national team squad for the first time since taking over the position.
He will get his first taste of action in the Nations League, which kicks off against the Netherlands on 24 September in Amsterdam.
Three days later, Greece will be the opponent in Augsburg's WWK Arena for Klopp's home debut as the 13th-ever Germany head coach.
