Karim Adeyemi completed his permanent transfer from Borussia Dortmund to FC Barcelona on Thursday. The Bundesliga club decided to cash in on him as the German international was entering the last year of his contract.

According to multiple reports, €22 million is the fixed transfer sum as he signed until 2031 with FC Barcelona. With bonuses, Dortmund will hope to recoup the €30 million they paid to sign him from RB Salzburg four years ago.

“Karim (Adeyemi) has been an important part of Borussia Dortmund over the past four years. In 2024, we reached the Champions League final with him. And yet, this summer we agreed that both Karim and we want to pursue different paths in the future. We wish Karim and his family all the best for the future.” said BVB’s managing director of sports, Lars Ricken.

“I’d like to thank Borussia Dortmund for four great years. To the club, my players, and the fans, who made every game special with their support. I wish BVB all the best for the future.” said Adeyemi as he prepares for the new chapter in his career.

The winger played 146 games with Borussia Dortmund, including 98 in the Bundesliga. He scored 36 goals (23 in Bundesliga) during his time in his native country. Barcelona’s Hansi Flick was Germany’s head coach when Adeyemi made his international football debut at the age of 19.
