Reports: St. Pauli preparing to sign Hürzeler's replacement

Multiple German football media sources are currently reporting that 1. FC St. Pauli have found their designated head-coach to replace the departed Fabian Hürzeler.

Following Fabian Hürzeler's departure to EPL Brighton & Hove Albion, newly promoted Bundesliga club 1. FC St. Pauli have been searching for a new head-coach to lead them in the German top flight. Hamburg's Kiezkicker were reportedly in negotiations with current Karlsruher SC trainer Christian Eichner, but talks broke down over a potential transfer fee due to the Fächerstädter.

Virtually all German footballing media sources are now confirming information initially initiating from Sky Germany regarding St. Pauli's search for a replacement. The north German club has apparently found another German for whom they must pay a transfer fee. Talks are currently ongoing with Belgian Pro League runners-up Union SG over the signing of 51-year-old Alexander Blessin.

Union SG's head-coach - a Stuttgart native - began his coaching career in the RB Leipzig youth system some twelve years ago after the end of his active playing career. The German football journeyman has served as a senior club head-coach in Belgium and Italy since leaving the German Red Bulls in 2020. Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Blessin is about to sign a two-year-deal in Hamburg.
