Luis Díaz shared his insights on several matters in an exclusive interview with DFL (Bundesliga). The special character of Michael Olise was one of the things raised during the interview with the FC Bayern star.

“I think that’s just how he is,” Díaz said about his teammate when he was asked whether Olise’s antics are intended for the camera. “ We’re with him every day, and that’s how he is. It’s kind of his personality. He’s very quiet, but he’s also very willing to help you.

“He’ll give you some instructions during games to help you to defend or to make the move for the pass he wants to play. He’s very sharp with those things. You don’t always see it on the pitch, but he’s very aware of it. It’s the same in training as well, where he always tries to improve.”

Díaz attributed Olise’s success to him practising his shooting after training. “His focus is on himself. He wants to be one of the best. He’s humble, a good guy. He laughs and jokes like everyone. But for me, that’s his personality, and it’s fine like that.”

The chemistry between the two wingers played a big factor in Bayern’s all-firing attack last season, with Harry Kane enjoying a record-breaking campaign playing up front. “We know each other much more now compared to last year. But it’s the same with every teammate. When you work with them every day, you get to know them even better,” the 29-year-old added.

For the Colombian, Vincent Kompany found the balance between the right tactics and giving players freedom on the pitch. “When it comes to attacking, playing freely but also respecting your role on the pitch is needed. Defensively, it’s a bit demanding. Kompany expects all of us to defend. He says when you defend better, you attack better. That’s really important. And we do what the coach asks of us.”
