Max Eberl responded to Lamine Yamal’s statements as the Ballon d’Or debates continued to attract opinions from all corners. The 19-year-old Spaniard is campaigning for himself with some strong words seemingly directed at Harry Kane.
“There has to be some campaigning, after all,” Bayern’s sporting director told Sky Sports. “The best players are the ones who don’t need to run a campaign.”
The 52-year-old also believes Michael Olise should be another candidate besides his Bayern teammate Harry Kane. “For me, Olise also belongs to the candidates for the Ballon d’Or. He is one of the best players in the world,” added Eberl.
Olise and Kane helped FC Bayern to a 7-0 win over Union Berlin on Friday evening. The former took home the matchball and the “Man of the Match” award after his hat-trick, while Kane became the fastest in Bundesliga history to reach 100 Bundesliga.
