Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer believes Harry Kane should win this year's Ballon d'Or after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign.
Kane enjoyed the most successful season of his Bayern career, helping the club win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal. He also reached the Champions League semi-finals with the Bavarians.
Hainer highlighted Kane's individual numbers when making his case for the award:
“Harry Kane scored 60 goals in the Bundesliga, Pokal and Champions League, became German champion, won the DFB Pokal, reached the semifinals of the Champions League, played a very good World Cup,” Hainer said.
“I don't know what more you have to do to win the Ballon d'Or.”
Hainer was also asked about Lamine Yamal, who has publicly discussed his own chances of winning the award. The Bayern president acknowledged the Barcelona youngster's quality but ultimately backed Kane based on his overall achievements last season.
“Lamine Yamal is certainly a very good player and has a great future ahead of him, but when you take everything into account last season, then there's only one winner - and that has to be Harry Kane.”
Kane is among the leading contenders for the award, which will be presented in London on October 26th.
