Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller has outlined big expectations for his former club ahead of the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Now playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps, Müller won Europe's most prestigious club competition with Bayern in 2012/13 and again in 2019/20 and he believes the German giants have what it takes to go all the way once more this season.

“I say they'll make it to the final," Müller said in an interview with Sport Bild.

“Tactically, they’re well-drilled as a team, they have strong individual players, and they’re especially well stocked defensively in terms of personnel,” he added.

"In attack, it certainly helps if the key figures like Harry Kane and Michael Olise, for example stay fit throughout the spring. You can sense the confidence and the hunger in this team.”

Bayern’s second-place finish in the league phase secured qualification for the round of 16, which will be played in March.
