UEFA Nations League: Kane delivers again as England beat ten-man Czechia

England recorded their first 2026/27 UEFA Nations League victory with Harry Kane scoring their second goal in a 2-0 win over Czechia. Despite Pavel Šulc’s straight red card in the 25th minute, Thomas Tuchel’s side couldn’t find the first goal before the break.
From a pinpoint delivery by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who replaced Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarell Quansah, FC Barcelona’s new star Anthony Gordon broke the deadlock two minutes after the restart.
As always, Kane had chances to make an impact before his clinical finish sealed three points for the Three Lions twenty minutes from time. With his hopes of featuring in all four games in this international break, Tuchel took off his captain immediately.
In the other fixture from the group, Lamine Yamal scored twice and registered an assist as Spain beat Croatia 4-1. The visitors left Freiburg striker Igor Matanović from the matchday squad as former Bundesliga players Ivan Perišić and Dion Beljo combined for their solitary strike.
In League B, Gregor Kobel (Dortmund), Michel Aebischer (Union Berlin), Cedric Itten (Bremen) and Fabian Rieder (Augsburg) helped Switzerland to beat ten-man Scotland 3-0 in Glasgow. Former Bundesliga defenders Ricardo Rodriguez and Nico Elvedi scored the first two goals for the visitors.
Meanwhile, in League C action, Stuttgart’s new man Leo Sauer scored the opening goal to help Slovakia to a 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan.
