Bayern retained second place in the Bundesliga through Nathaniel Brown's 80th minute equaliser after the league holders were 2-1 down.

Despite this, the away side had multiple chances as well as goals ruled out for offside in a second half where they were dominant but unable to capitalise.

After the tie, Vincent Kompany said: “Of course we wished for a better start. I've played enough football to know that this happens and you can't change it.”

Manuel Neuer conceded within eight seconds of the start on Saturday as he gave the ball away cheaply to Augsburg's Fellhauer.

Despite this, Bayern coach Kompany backed Neuer and said: “He knows how to deal with the situation and we stand together as a team.”

Finally, Vincent Kompany refused to note whether Manuel Neuer will be benched on Tuesday against Viking in the Champions League for Jonas Urbig.
