Werder Bremen have parted company with Dawid Kownacki with immediate effect.

The Bundesliga outfit confirmed on Wednesday that the 29-year-old Polish striker's contract has been terminated by mutual consent.

“We have spoken with Dawid in recent weeks about his sporting situation and his prospects at Werder. We came to the conclusion that terminating the contract is the best solution for both sides,” said Clemens Fritz.

“Dawid has always behaved professionally during his time at Werder and put himself at the service of the team. We would like to thank him for his efforts in the Werder shirt and wish him all the best for the rest of his sporting and personal journey,” Fritz added.

Dawid Kownacki joined Werder Bremen from Fortuna Düsseldorf in the summer of 2023 and made a total of 22 appearances for the club.

He spent the last two seasons out on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hertha BSC respectively.
