With Bayer Leverkusen loanee Victor Boniface unlikely to feature for Werder Bremen again due to persistent knee problems, the Bundesliga club are in the market for a replacement.
Speaking to Kicker, Werder’s head of first-team football, Peter Niemeyer, confirmed that signing a new striker is a top priority for the Bundesliga side.
“We are working at full speed to get it done as quickly as possible,” Niemeyer said.
Werder had been linked with moves for Niclas Füllkrug and Younes Ebnoutalib, but they opted to join AC Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt respectively.
As a result, the Green-Whites must now turn their attention to alternative options.
