Words of encouragement: Leverkusen fans offer motivation for DFB-Pokal final
I asked Werkself fans how the Bundesliga champions can raise their spirits in preparation for another game which involves them being heavy favourites against 2.Bundesliga opposition.
Tim, 28 Leverkusen: "Keep their heads high, be proud of what you have achieved this season, and believe in yourself. Then this can be another victory for us".
Moritz, 21, Rostock: "Not everything is lost! If you in the DfB Pokal it is still an insane season. It's all up for grabs and it's in Leverkusen's power to do that. I would encourage them to play the way we have seen this whole season; especially with much more confidence. .
"I would expect a team like Kaiserslautern to be very defensive because Leverkusen can finish the game with such a class difference [in player quality]. So I would say full steam, full power; try to get this game [vs Atalanta] out of your head. If you win the cup you end the season on a big high".
Torsten, Leverkusen fan based in Frankfurt: "We have had a perfect season. There are two titles to win in total. Let's do it; and they will do it I'm pretty sure".
Maurice, 36, Leverkusen: "You have won more than any Leverkusen team in the past 40 years; be proud of it, we are proud of you. We appreciate your service and we think you can win the double. On Saturday we will be with you".
Janis, 20, Leverkusen: "It was only one defeat tonight [vs Atalanta]. The DfB Pokal is the final game of the season; let's have a good end for the season and have fun".
Til, 51, Leverkusen: "I think [Xabi Alonso and his players] can do it. Even though my son is a fan of Kaiserslautern and he will root for them, I still think he can win it on Saturday".
Moritz and Leon, Leverkusen: "I don't think they need our motivation at all! I think they have played such a great season. They've lost just one game over a whole season and I think they will win on Saturday".
Bayer Leverkusen will have the chance to win the DfB Pokal in Berlin this Saturday if they can overcome 1.FC Kaiserslautern. A win would see Xabi Alonso's side secure an unprecedented domestic double alongside their Meisterschale title for 2023/24.
