Multiple sources: Mainz finalize €4 million sale of Ajorque

Germany's preeminent footballing publication is now confirming French media reports concerning an imminent transfer of FSV Mainz 05 striker Ludovic Ajorque. 

Rumors that FSV Mainz 05 and Stade Brest had been negotiating the sale of French striker Ludovic Ajoque have been cropping up in various rumor mills for weeks. Germany's Kicker Magazine now deems the various rumors regarding Ajorque's imminent departure from Germany to be well sourced enough to consider them true. Mainz appear set to recoup €4 million for the center forward they once paid €6 million to acquire from Racing Straßburg. 

Ajorque got off to a decent start for the Rheinhessen after joining in the January 2023 transfer window. The Frenchman scored six league goals and pocketed three assists in 17 league appearances for Mainz during the second half of the 2022/23 campaign. The 30-year-old nevertheless disappointed in his sophomore season for die Nullfünfter, scoring just twice in the league in 26 (mostly relief) appearances. 

Mainz can once again call upon captain Jonathan Burkardt to spearhead the attack. Nelson Weiper is also expected to be healthy and fit ahead of the new season. The Pfälzer acquired promising young German talent Armindo Sieb on loan from Bayern this offseason, rendering Ajorque fully expendable entering the new campaign.
